Position Description
· Develop marketing plan for current products and future products
· Assist in designing the two websites with an external agency

Construction Fencing Estimator
Align Fence Inc. is an Edmonton-based, total fence solution company that supplies safety and security fencing to institutional, industrial, agricultural, commercial and residential clients throughout Alberta. Our services include the design, engineering, installation and dismantling of temporary and permanent fencing for commercial construction job sites, residential housing, special events, sports/recreational facilities, correctional facilities, disaster/restoration sites, and industrial and oilfield sites. Our product line includes chain link, vinyl, and ornamental fencing. We are looking for an experienced Fence Estimator to join our team as soon as possible. This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours/week) that requires an individual with significant experience and expertise in the safety/security fencing industry.
Summary Description
The Fence Estimator is responsible for preparing complete estimates for all our commercial, industrial and residential fencing projects. This includes complex work projects and various forms of contracts particular to construction fencing projects. Additional responsibilities include preparation of contract proposal estimates, fence scope estimations and project management. The duties of the position include blue print analysis, contract writing, RFP writing, and some website and newsletter drafting.
We are offering a starting wage of $32.85 per hour, in addition to full benefits, and 2 weeks paid vacation.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Work closely with engineers, architects, contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers to determine optimal fencing solution for customers.
- Prepare complete fence estimates, proposals, and related documents and materials for both management and customer approval.
- Manage and co-ordinate commercial and industrial fencing projects; prepare progress schedules; ensure adherence to project timelines and budget; oversee field and other staff assisting with project.
- Collect and analyze data to ensure accuracy of all unit and component costs, including subcontractor sourcing (as necessary) and the design or sourcing of non-standard products.
- Determine optimal costing for upcoming projects and identify suppliers.
- Ensure all tenders are submitted on a timely basis and with all required documentation.
- Perform analysis and evaluation of tender bid process and outcome; prepare post tender analysis.
- Create and maintain a detailed database of tenders and project pricing, for use in determining budget pricing for potential projects; create and maintain database for the determination of sales strike rates.
- Provide accurate pricing for all projects using fence estimation software.
- Submit internet project bids.
- Prepare domestic quotes, and high-level government and other related fencing tender documents.
- Assist marketing department with weekly newsletters; write articles/blogs; perform website updates.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in the fencing industry and as a high security fencing estimator; minimum 3 years experience specifically at a commercial contracting level.
- Minimum 5 years experience working on large-scale fencing projects, from pre-tender stage through to project completion; preparing accurate progress payment claims; performing program installations; resolving contractual issues. Preference given to Candidates who have experience working on projects valued at up to $1.5 million.
- Minimum 3 years experience designing custom fencing systems for high security public and private sector contracts; identifying options/solutions that satisfy client’s budgetary and operational requirements.
- Preference given to Candidates with experience designing integrated physical security systems for high risk facilities such as prisons, power plants, or military installations.
- Minimum 3 years experience with CAD;
- Minimum of 3 years interacting/negotiating with worldwide fence suppliers; proven capacity to build and maintain positive estimator-supplier relations; demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate optimal supplier pricing.
- Preference given to Candidates with practical and theoretical knowledge of security fencing installations.
- Marketing experience and experience writing marketing materials specific to the fencing industry; web design experience.
Skills
- In depth knowledge of security fence systems, including high security systems, electric fencing and access control; practical and theoretical knowledge of security fencing installations.
- High competency in CAD design.
- High numerical competency.
- Excellent communication and writing/drafting skills.
- Well versed in providing domestic quotes, and in completing high-level government and other tender documents.
- Computer literate, including worldwide web and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
- Sales ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; capacity to liaise with a wide demographic.
- Marketing acumen; media and marketing knowledge, particularly new media and online marketing.

Education
